Obituary

Genevieve “Gen” Garner, 98, of Kress passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors with Dr. Kelly Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Genevieve was born on August 23, 1923 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Floyd & Callie Davidson. She married John “Hap” Garner on May 8, 1943 in San Francisco, California. They moved to Brownfield after his discharge and settled in the Whitfield Community in 1952 where they farmed until the mid 1990’s. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crossword puzzles, reading the Bible and devotional books and her favorite was her family. She was a member of Claytonville Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for over 60 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John “Hap” Garner; her son, Michael Garner; four siblings; her granddaughter, Jennifer Lindeman and her great great granddaughter, Madeline Genevieve Brotherton.

She is survived by three daughters, Sheryl Lindeman & husband Karl, Judy Bertelson & husband Steve and Janis Jones & husband Larry; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
