Obituary

Kay Chaney, 83 passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in the Kornerstone Chapel with burial to follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 21, 2022 in the Kornerstone Chapel.

Kay moved to Plainview when she was seven years old. She attended Lamar all throughout grade school and graduated Plainview High School in 1958. In high school, Kay worked for Arch Keys Floral where she started pursing her passion to become a florist. Kay married Jackie Pierce and he passed away is 1983. She married Herbert Chaney October 8, 1982 in Plainview, Texas. Kay enjoyed her work and you could not get her to sit down. Something always needed to be done. She worked at various places in Plainview, including the Fair Theatre, famous Spudnut's Donut Shop, Bluebonnet Savings and Loans, State National Bank and Hale County State Bank. Kay and her sister owned the Flower Nook and Somewhere in Time Flower Shop in Plainview, Texas. Flowers and Plants were her passion, which helped her when she started working in the garden center at Walmart where she was a loyal employee for twenty one years.

Kay is preceded in death by her first husband, Jackie Pierce; her parents, Dennis and Essie Todd; her stepdaughter, Tina Foley; and her sister, Peggy Frye.

Kay is survived by her husband, Herbert Chaney; two sons, Todd Pierce of Kress, Texas, Tim Pierce and wife Lisa of Plainview, Texas; two stepsons, Cory Chaney of Lubbock, Texas, Shannon Chaney of Lubbock, Texas and nine grandchildren.
