Obituary
Jamie Lutricia Junod, who’s favorite names were Mom & Nana, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 in her home, surrounded by her family.
Jamie was born on November 16,1959 in Memphis, TX to Paul “Cecil” and Nollie Reid Hunnicutt. She was raised in Amarillo, TX where she attended school and graduated from Caprock High in 1978.
She married her true love, Andy Junod, on August 26,1978. Just a few short years later she began one of her greatest life journeys, she became a mom. Jamie took immeasurable joy in raising and caring for her family.
The family moved to Plainview, TX in 1993, where she then began her career with the Plainview Independent School District at Edgemere Elementary. There she poured her heart and soul into her job and the people around her. She retired from Edgemere in 2019 after 27 years of dedicated service.
She was at her happiest when she was at Andy’s side. You rarely saw one without the other. She was the best Nana in the world to her ten grandchildren, and was always adopting some extras along the way. To know Nana was to be loved by Nana.
When Jamie wasn’t spending time with her husband or loving on her children and grandchildren, you could find her in the kitchen putting Betty Crocker to shame. Jamie could heal a broken heart, an ache or pain, or bring more joy to a situation with a few of her famous chocolate chip cookies. She was always the hostess with the mostest, and taught so many the fine art of hosting a celebration, and why you should absolutely keep your bacon grease.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 43 years, Andy Junod; children, Alane Ray and fiancé Nathan Perry of Plainview, TX, Austin Junod and wife Alicia of Lubbock, TX, and Murray Junod and fiancée Crystal Sagnimeni of Amarillo, TX, ten grandchildren: Andrew Junod, Owen Ray, Logan Ray, Tatum Junod, Adler Junod, Alejandro Vallejo-King, Annanda Vallejo-King, Frankie Vallejo-King, Lawson Perry, & Tracen Perry, and one sister, Paulette & Don Oliver of Amarillo, TX.
The family will be receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 2PM Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Kornerstone Chapel with interment to follow at Plainview Cemetery. Per Jamie’s request, please dress in bright and vibrant colors as she wanted this to be a celebration.
