Obituary

Michael Alvin Stephenson of Plainview, Texas, went to be with our Heavenly Father on December 26th, 2020, at the age of 51. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday July 10, 2021 at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary in Plainview. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Michael was born on July 10th, 1969 to Charles Ray and Mary Christine (Redman) Stephenson in Grapevine, Texas. At an early age, Michael’s family moved to New Deal. He had many stories about growing up around family and friends. He always took pride in being a Class of ’88 New Deal Lion football player. His teammates, friends, and coaches always held a special place in his heart.

Michael was a mountain of a man that filled many roles throughout his life. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 2008. He worked as a coach at New Deal ISD (football/softball), Plainview ISD (football/softball/history teacher), and Wayland Baptist University (football). He loved people, football, and girls’ fast pitch softball. If he was not coaching his own children, he would find someone else to coach. He was passionate about coaching, teaching, and building others up. He was the hands and feet of Jesus and will be missed by his former players, coaches, and community. Michael met no stranger. He had a story for everyone at any given time. His love for history was undeniable and he was always up for a hunting trip. He deeply cherished his family and dearly loved his children. We look forward to the day we will see him again.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ray Stephenson and Mary Christine Stephenson; his sister; Sherrie Ambrosini, and many other loving grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
