Obituary

Kent D. Roberts Sr., age 85 passed away early Monday morning, April 5, 2021.

He was born, December 6, 1935, in Watonga Oklahoma to Kermit and Marie (Rogers) Roberts.

He married Barbara Freeman on June 5, 1955 in Lovington NM. They were married for 54 years, before her passing in 2009.

They moved to Plainview from Roswell NM in 1961, where they raised their 4 children.

Kent loved cars and it was a passion of his since he was 12 years old. He started that love by working for Hale County Motor Company, and continued that passion with Jack Morris Ford for 38 years, serving as used car sales manager for 30 years. He was known as “Rowdy” Kent Roberts for many of those years he worked for Jack Morris. He always said, the most satisfying thing about his job has been the friends he made, the people he met, and the customers who, for 30 years still came to see him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Marie Roberts, wife Barbara Roberts, daughter Cindy Roberts Horne and sister Mary Ruth Roberts.

He is survived by children Kathy Marshall and husband Mark, Kent Roberts JR., Kerry Roberts and wife Kimberly; sister Joan Maloney, brother John Roberts and wife Janel, sister Reba Buckley and husband John, brother Lynn Roberts and wife Melissa; grandchildren Matt and Dawn Marshall, Melanie and Tyron Lee, Rachel and Wade Prutzman, Haley and Eric Buske, Rebecca and Brandon Marcy; Kellan and Rachel Roberts, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Kent, are invited to attend the visitation at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 9, 2021 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors, followed by the graveside service at 11:30 A.M. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview, TX.
