Obituary
Roberta Settle, 86, of Plainview passed away on September 10, 2020. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 18, 2020 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Doug Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.
Roberta was born March 10, 1934 in Stuart, Oklahoma to Roy and Lois (McNutt) Looney. She married Joe Settle on March 10, 1951 in Clovis, NM. She attended Lippert’s Business College. She was a loving mother and grandmother as well as a favorite Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She raised her 3 boys and then 3 grandkids. She always loved a house full of kids and she loved to square dance. She loved having gatherings for playing joker with her friends from the Good Sam’s travel club. She enjoyed baking cookies, pies and cakes and her hobby was sewing baby blankets for anyone who was expecting a baby. She had a heart of gold and loved unconditionally. Her favorite saying was “God isn’t finished with me yet”. Her family will tell you she was a living miracle and God healed her many times because of her faith and belief in Jesus was very evident. She owned and operated The Furniture Barn with her mother for almost 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the First Church of the Nazarene Plainview.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Joe Settle, Ricky Lee Settle; and a sister, Ruth Shaddix.
She is survived by her husband Joe Settle of Plainview; her son, Danny Roy Settle; her brother, Glen Looney; three grandchildren that she raised, Aaron Settle, Jayme Wetzel and Kristi Sarver; seven other grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
