Obituary

Dorothy Marie Whitfield, 88, of Plainview was called home to glory on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at United Baptist Church with Pastor Michael L. White officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Dorothy Marie Uddley was born on August 17, 1931 in Rosebud, Texas to Jack Uddley, Sr. and Elvia Lee Davis-Uddley. She married Charles Edward Whitfield on May 12, 1967 in Plainview, Texas. They were together for 52 years. Dorothy served many years as a certified childcare worker before retiring in 1979 to be a homemaker for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Robert, Patricia and husband, Tyrone, and Greg and wife, Kim; her stepsons, Stanley and wife, Charlotte, Darrell and wife, Robbie Mae, Robert and wife, Jacqueline; her stepdaughters, Ruth and Pamela; her grandchildren, Shaila and husband, Chris, Jackie and wife M.K., Jeremy and wife, Nicole, Joshua; 6 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Dorothy is preceded by her parents; her husband, Charles Whitfield; her daughter, Ramona Sansom; her sisters, Pearlie B. Davis, Helen Smith; her brothers, Jack Uddley, Jr., Raymond Uddley; and nieces, Drucilla Wideman and Youlanda Ann Nash.
