Obituary

Ruby Faye Ray, 79 of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2 o’ clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at United Baptist Church with Rev. Michael White officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Ms. Ray will lie in repose from noon until 8 o’ clock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Ruby was born on August 22, 1941 to Garland and Nora Ray in Groesbeck, TX. She attended Black Shire High School and Booker T Washington High School. She later earned her GED. Ruby also earned certificates from Lippard Business College and American School of Business College. Some of her personal enrichment achievements included David C. Cook Sunday School Curriculum and Bill Goatherd Institute of Basic Life Principles. She was extremely involved in the community in activities such as being a Sunday School teacher, Adult Mission Class teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and being on the church committee and Community Outreach Services and Fundraisers. She was also very involved in the annual Black Awareness. Ruby worked at the Austin Heights Community Nursery for many years. Ruby was a member of Booker T Washington All School Reunion Committee and United Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, two sisters and five brothers. She is survived by two brothers; Sherman Ray of Amarillo and Bobby Ray of Plainview.

Ruby is also survived by one son: Anthony C. Ray and wife, Tacoma Reenee' of Leander, TX; two granddaughters: Charmisel Williams of Midland and Deanie Reenee’ Ray of Pflugerville; one grandson: Lee Darren Ray of Leander and four great grandchildren: Kendra Ariel Ray, Leinora Ann Williams, Narvella Reenee’ Ray and Davis Demont Williams; and one great great grandchild: A’Zariah Ariel Ray; plus a host of nieces and nephews.
