Obituary
Humberto “Bert” “Bamba” Ortiz, Jr., 79 of Plainview, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Rogers, Trinity Life Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Bert was born on March 4, 1941 to Humberto Ortiz, Sr. and Felicia Mojica in Fentress, TX. He enjoyed the agricultural life and farmed most his life until retiring at the age of 55. After getting bored from retirement, Bert returned to work in maintenance at McDonald’s. This was a great fit for him because he loved being around people and making them laugh. Bert was a natural jokester. In his spare time, he liked watching Western movies and Cantinflas. Above all, Bert was a family man. He cherished the time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Bert always made sure to always take care of his family. He was also a Godly man and was a member of Trinity Life Church. Bert was known by many and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Humerto, Sr. and Felicia Ortiz; one son: Russell Ortiz; one granddaughter: Jennifer Butler and one sister: Enedina DeLuna.
Bert is survived by his wife: Cecilia of the home; two daughters: Audrey Butler and husband Raymond DeLeon of New Deal and Melinda Maldonado and husband Jerry of Plainview; one sister: Minerva Salinas; four grandchildren: Jon Butler, Lorrie Russ, Anissa Rincon and Christian Maldonado and one great grandchild: Madelynn Burns.
