Obituary

Purva Jean Smith, 85 of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 o’ clock in the morning on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ted Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 8-10 o’ clock in the morning before the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Purva was born on March 18, 1935 to Purvis Cecil and Leona Daniels in Dimmitt, TX. She married Loyd R. Smith, Sr and was a homemaker all her life. Purva was passionate about animals; ; especially dogs. She would take stray dogs in and help them find a forever home. She was known as the “Dog Lady.” Purva also liked going to garage sales and drinking Dr. Pepper. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and one grandson: Jonathon Smith.

Purva is survived by two sons: Loyd Ray Smith and wife Jacquie of Plainview and Tony Lynn Smith and wife Patsy of Tyler; one daughter: Darla Jean Wimberly and husband Mike of Plainview; one brother: Robert Cecil Daniels and Rawlings, NC; one sister: Miley Pitts of Arizona and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
