Obituary

Yolanda "Yoli" Serrano Ybarra, 78 of Plainview, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 1 o’ clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Plainview Memorial Park with Father George Poonely of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. A Private rosary will be recited at the funeral home. Mrs. Ybarra will lie in repose from 9 o’ clock in the morning until 12:30 in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Yolanda was born on July 11, 1941 to Pedro and Rita Serrano in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Education was top priority for her once in the US, and she graduated from South Park Jr. High in 1961 as a young lady. She continued on to receive her GED while balancing being a wife and mother to two small girls. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Coronado Junior High and at K-Mart in the late nineties. Yolanda was known for her compassion and always seeing the good in every person she came across. She had an amazing memory and could remember names, phone numbers, dates, and faces. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, running errands with her friends, and caring for her plants.

Yolanda cherished all her friends but held a special bond with Janie, Audelia, & Comadre Cuca. She held lifelong friendships with all three. These friendships then became daily prayers, calls, and rides. The family is forever grateful for the love and friendship towards our beloved Mother. A special thanks to two loyal providers, Maria Victoria and Kati. Words cannot express our gratitude for your patience and kindness.

Above all Yolanda was a woman of God. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview TX, where she attended mass every Sunday as her health permitted. She was a Cursillo participant and a Guadalupana. Her kindness has left a footprint across the hearts of many and she will be missed dearly.

On all the important days in our lives, and on the regular ones too, we will be thinking of you.

She is proceeded in death by her parents: Pedro and Rita Serrano; a son: Arthur Ybarra Jr.; and her husband: Arturo Ybarra.

Yolanda is survived by her children: Laura Jean Ybarra of Lubbock, Tracie Lynn Walzier-Ybarra and partner Trev, Maria Raquel Ybarra of Plainview, Rudy Ybarra and wife Lisa and family of Slaton, Norma Ybarra and family and Eva Valentina and family all of Florida; one brother: Jerry Serrano of Plainview; one sister: Terri Nolan and husband Alfred of Lubbock; grandchildren: Travis Wayne Emert and wife Andrea of Lockney, Evan Noel Cavazos, Adia Amaris Cavazos and Kaiden Ybarra of Lubbock, Jodeci Shawntel Roberts, Jordyn Shareece Roberts, Kyron Jerell Ybarra, Canaan Axis Jenkins all of Plainview, Shianne Heavensent and Rita Elena Crisp both of Hale Center; great-grandchildren: Alayzia Blair, Tyce Wayne, and Tevyn Cole Emert, all of Lockney.
