Obituary

Joseph Negrete, 39 of Plainview, passed away on January 16, 2021. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, January 21, 2021 at Plainview Cemetery with Father Bill Anton officiating, of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Plainview, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Joseph was born on July 7, 1981 to Jose Gilbert and Mary (Alaniz) Negrete in Plainview, Texas. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1999. Joseph enjoyed fishing, listening to music, cooking outside and loved spending time with his family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Joseph worked for Wayland Baptist University Maintenance, Covenant Hospital Security and Cargill until it closed. He then pursued a trucking career with England Logistics and Key Energy. He finally found his home with First Student School Bus. His bus was #12. Co-workers expressed to his family how he loved his students and was always getting the kids snacks and McDonalds. Joseph will be dearly missed.

Joseph was preceded in death by his Grandparents: Maximo and Ernestina Alaniz; Jose P. and Maria G. Negrete, five aunts: Paula Saucedo, Alicia Saucedo, Ofelia Molina, Lupita Lopez, Elvia Millican; two uncles: Raymundo Negrete, Frankie Negrete; one cousin, Manuelito Villareal.

Joseph is survived by his parents: Jose Gilbert and Mary Negrete of Plainview; 5 sons: Matthew Negrete of Plainview, Michael Negrete of Amarillo, Joseph Negrete Jr., DJ Martinez and Marcus Rider all of Kress; one sister, Cecilia Negrete of Plainview.
