Obituary

Willie "Tank" Phillips Jr., 66 of Plainview, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Roger Velasquez of El Sendero De La Cruz Church of Hart, Texas. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Willie was born on March 7, 1955, in Lockney, Texas to Cornelius and Bertie Mae (Dixon) Phillips. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and playing football at a young age. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Willie loved his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Phillips of Plainview; one son, Devon Phillips of New Jersey; five stepsons, Tony Perez of Plainview, Andrew Ellis of Lubbock, Jessie McKane Gonzales of Plainview, Modesto Ellis of Canyon and Joseph Padilla of Minnesota; four stepdaughters, Geneva Ellis of Dallas, Jeanette Garcia of Odessa, Jessica Padilla of Plainview and April Perez of Plainview; six sisters, Pauline Monroe of Dallas, Virginia Mathis, Shirley Branch, Joyce Washington, Margaret Bahar and Wanda Spillman all of Clovis, N.M. and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Ruth Phillips, Curtis Mae Sims and Pattie Brooklyn.
