Obituary

Susan Madeline McMillan, 69, of Plainview passed away on January 22, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church sanctuary with Dr. Jacob West officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, January 26, 2023, at Kornerstone Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Susan was born on October 3, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee to LTC Bernard and Sylvesta Kruzensk. At a young age, she lived overseas and moved to Denison, TX when she was in the 7th grade. She was on the Denison Drill Team and graduated from Denison High School in 1972. After high school, she attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1976. She married Tommy McMillan on January 7, 1977 in Lubbock, TX. Susan was a public-school teacher for 32 years and then retired. Upon retiring, she went back to the classroom for another 9 years at Plainview Christian Academy. Susan was an active member of First Baptist Church Plainview where she was taught a women's Sunday school class for many years. She was involved in the adult choir, handbells, and helped with numerous Vacation Bible Schools. She was heavily involved in her children’s activities, such as Choir, Band, and Bulldog Baseball Booster Clubs.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy McMillan, her son-in-law, LTC James Johnston, her sister, Patricia Casey, her brother, Tony Kruzensk, and her parents Bernard and Sylvesta Kruzensk.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori Johnston of Plainview, son, Chance McMillan and wife Kelsey McMillan of Plainview, 5 grandchildren, Rileigh Johnston, Madeline Johnston, Grayson McMillan, Cameron McMillan, Lane McMillan, and a brother-in-law Kevin Casey of Illinois.
