Obituary

Hector B. Gonzales, 85, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas.

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the funeral home.

Mr. Gonzales was born on May 29, 1937 in Rocksprings, Texas to Gabriel M. and Emma B. Gonzalez. He married Maria Gonzales on August 16, 1959 in Rocksprings, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2014. He worked as a sheep shearer in his early years and retired from Excel Beef Packing Plant after 40 years of service. Family was everything to him and he loved doing and providing for them in all things. He enjoyed several sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech and Texas Rangers fan. Mr. Gonzales was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a faithful servant.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria Gonzales; two sisters, Graciela Gonzales and Enriqueta Garcia and his son-in-law, Leroy Favila.

He is survived by his daughter, Leticia Favila of Plainview, TX; two sons, Hector Gonzales, Jr. & wife Sharon of Euless, TX and Mario Gonzales & wife Cynthia of Cedar Hill, TX; three brothers, Jose Gonzalez of Plainview, TX., Robert B. Gonzales of Temple, TX. and Gabriel B. Gonzales of Plainview, TX.; five grandchildren, Jesseca Marie Loya of Arlington, TX., Marisa Ann Montalvo of Lubbock, TX., Lilliana Gonzales, Cesali Gonzales and Galilee Gonzales all of Cedar Hill, TX. and three great grandchildren, Aubrey Lauren Montalvo, Marley Corine Loya and Leonardo “Leo” Loya.
