Obituary

Derrell Dewayne Smith, 86, of Plainview, Texas passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. A Memorial visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 13, 2023 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Derrell was born on November 11, 1936 to Joseph and Nora Smith in Ada, Oklahoma. After his first marriage, he married Patricia Smith on May 27, 1978 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Derrell proudly served in the United States Army for a few years then worked for Mrs. Baird’s as a bread deliverer for most of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and traveling around the country, even visiting all 50 states. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be missed dearly by many family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nora Smith, and sixteen brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Patricia Smith, his sister; Carol Holland, 4 children; Greg and wife Connie Smith of Melissa, TX, Brad and wife Jennifer Smith of Amarillo, TX, Doug and wife Leann Blackerby of Plainview, TX, Andrea and husband Buttons Bozeman of Tulia, TX, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter.
