Obituary

On December 2, 2022, at the age of 50, Timothy Scott Young was called home. Until we are reunited again, the wonderful Godly man, will keep the grill hot and the engines revving. He was a loving husband, an adoring father and grandfather. He was a son, the best brother, as well as a provider, protector, and awesome friend to have.

Scott was born in Plainview, Texas on June 25, 1972, to parents Donald and Jan Young. After graduating from Plainview High School in 1990, Scott attended South Plains College where the young cowboy fulfilled his dream of becoming a licensed peace officer. Scott met Linda that winter and after a three month whirlwind romance he proposed to and married the love of his life on March 11, 1995. It was then Scott gained his twin daughters Krista and Kendra, who he loved dearly. The couple completed their beautiful family with the birth of Kade in the summer of 1996.

After working a few years as a Hale County Sheriff's Department Deputy, Scott then joined the Plainview Police Department in 1997. He was a proud member of the Plainview PD’s SWAT team. Even while not on duty, he garnered a reputation for always being willing to help protect and serve the community. Scott became a corporal in 2007 and even showed off his acting skills in an episode of Fast N’ Loud where he pulled over the star of the show.

Scott retired from law enforcement in 2018 and worked contract jobs until eventually opening up his own business, Young Roofing and Foam in 2021.

A devoted family man, the mustache could never hide the smiles that came with the joy of being with his family. This included making every one of Kade’s sporting events, becoming an ordained minister to officiate Krista’s wedding or texting Kendra when he couldn’t sleep, just to say “hi”. His love for Linda was eternal, as he found true peace by her side. In front of a smoker, Scott innovated 5-star meals for family and friends. And with a wrench in hand, Scott made sure the Harley and classic cars were in tip-top shape for romantic cruises down the highway. Scott enjoyed fishing, music and riding his motorcycle, but he was an entrepreneur at heart. Scott had fun creating and promoting his signature hot sauce, Scott Sauce, which he distributed as far out as Houston and Michigan. Though at first glance, he was a tough-as-nails Wyatt Earp type, Scott was a caring and gentle soul that was even making plans to open up a restaurant as well as a soup kitchen.

Scott is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda; and children Krista, Kendra, and Kade; as well as his mother Jan; and younger brother Todd Young and wife Trina and their two children Borgan and Brecklyn. Grandchildren include Tyler Scott Hembree, Kylie Lynn Carter “Kylie Joe Baker”, Allie Sessums, Kenzie Proctor, and Cason Proctor. Scott was also blessed with a host of nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his father Donald and his best friend, Tank the bulldog.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, at First Methodist Church under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
