Obituary

Abelardo Marquez "Abel", 65, of Plainview passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Father Bill Anton officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery IOOF in Plainview, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the funeral home.

Abelardo was born on September 22,1957 to Alicia and Abelardo Marquez in CD Juarez Chih. He migrated to Plainview, Texas in 1974 and worked at Plainview CO-OP Compress up until he received his CDL in 2011. Obtaining his CDL was a major accomplishment for him, and he loved driving semi-trucks.

Abelardo was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed classic cars "1956 Bel Air", classic rock "60's & 70's." Spending time with his family was his main priority. He had a passion for cooking out with family and friends using "Smokey the Bear", his big grill. It did not matter the time of day or the weather, he would have a cup of coffee in his hand and a lit cigarette in his mouth.

Abelardo enjoyed spending time with his grandkids whether it was on the baseball/softball fields, or simply giving them a ride to and from school.

Abelardo was a loving husband to Rosa Maria Marguez. He was a loving father to three daughters: Brenda, Janet, and Jennifer Marquez and to his only son Abelardo Jimmy Marquez. Abel has 13 grandkids, Yaneli, Audrea, Ezequiel, D'Angelo, Elijah, Armoni, Santiago, Jocelynn, Yarizel, Jakalyn, Virlan, Yarellie, and Bailey. He loved and cared for them dearly, and always made sure to let them, and everyone he loved, know, he loved them "Un Chingo!"

Abelardo is preceded in death by his wife Rosa Maria Marguez, his daughter Brenda Lee Marguez, his parents Alicia Ortega, Abelardo and Ruby Marquez.
