Obituary

Clara June Byrd, 90, of Plainview, Texas passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2022 in the Kornerstone Chapel with Father George Poonely officiating. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 10, 2022 followed by a Rosary at 7 PM in the Kornerstone Chapel.

Clara was born to Louis and Barbara Geiger on June 22, 1932 in Glendive, Montana where she grew up and attended school. She married George Schank in February 1952 in Glendive. Clara married Thomas “Tommy” Byrd in 1992 and he preceded her in death in 2003. She was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church, RSVP, Plainview Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Barbara Geiger; nine siblings; and a great grandson, Bryce Dare.

She is survived by a daughter, Maxine Rich & husband Nathan of Canyon; son, Terry Schank & wife Tammy of Plainview; sister, Frances Steiner of Glendive, Montana; four grandchildren, Michelle Williams of Plainview, Tera Schank of Marshall, Michigan, Travis Rich of Dallas, Mandy Formby of Norman, Oklahoma and four great grandchildren.
