Obituary

Sammie Elizabeth Box Patterson, 99, of Plainview passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2022 in the Kornerstone Chapel. Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Sammie was born on August 9, 1923 in Floyd County, Texas to Samuel and Virgie Box. She grew up all over Floyd County and attended schools in Lockney. Sammie married Thomas Wayland Patterson on July 31, 1942 in Plainview. She worked in the Laundry Industry and worked for Jimmy’s Cleaners, Vicks Cleaners, and One Hour Martinizing for many years. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi International. When she was younger, Sammie enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. She also loved to play dominoes and work crossword puzzles. She was a true homemaker and loved to take care of her family especially all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sammie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Patterson; parents, and three brothers and seven sisters.

She is survived by her three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Shipp of Lubbock, Patricia Ann Glesing of Madison, Indiana, Cynthia D’Ann Boedeker of Plainview; 8 grandchildren, Charles Shipp, Debbie Voyles, Tommy Shipp, Matt Boedeker, Jennifer Glesing, Colbie Begeman, Kaci Morris, Dusti Balfour; and 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
