Obituary

Johnny Tonche, Sr., 59 of Plainview, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, in Lubbock. Visitation for Mr. Tonche will be at 3:00pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, followed by the reciting of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass for Mr. Tonche will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Johnny was born on March 31, 1963, in Plainview, Texas to Manuel Tonche and Juanita (Torres) Tonche. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1982 and was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed traveling, music, and dancing. He loved to cook for his family, especially barbacoa, and party with his kids, he also loved Semi’s. Johnny was known for making people laugh and always making sure he said hello when he saw his family and friends.

Johnny is survived by his four sons: Johnny Tonche, Jr., of Lubbock, Hector Tonche (Veronica), Tony Tonche (Stephanie) and Manuel Tonche, of Plainview; his four daughters: Vanessa Mariscal (Juanito), of Plainview, Valerie Tonche, of Lubbock, Violet Tonche, and Veronica Tonche (Eric Munguia), of Plainview; four brothers: Mike, Adam, Guadalupe and Jesse Tonche, of Plainview; two sisters: Eva Arriola and Elizabeth Gonzales, both of Plainview; and nineteen grandchildren.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Juanita Tonche; two brothers: Hector and Manuel Tonche, and one sister, Janie Rivas.
