Obituary

JoAnn Stroope, 91, of Mayfield, was born January 31, 1931 and went to be with her Lord, March 31, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center with Chaplain Gabe Moudy officiating. Interment will follow at Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2022.

JoAnn was born in Ralls, Texas, to Rufus and Fyloma (Thrash) Jordan. On February 19, 1949, she married Charles Stroope and they had been married over 68 years at the time of his passing. JoAnn lived in the Mayfield community for 71 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center. She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. A talented seamstress and amazing cook, JoAnn enjoyed reading and loved playing games. Most of all, JoAnn loved her family and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Stroope, in 2017, a son, Steve Stroope, in 1990, one brother, and three sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Danny Stroope and his wife Sonjia of Mayfield and a sister, Donna Hjalmer of North Carolina. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Cody Stroope and wife Shannon of Pearland, Danya Bailey and husband Cal of Temple, Garrie Dawn Nowlain and husband Cody of New Deal and Kayla Mandrell and husband Skeets of Olton and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund PO Box 287 Cotton Center, TX 79021.
