He was born on January 2, 1938, in Brady, Texas to Venturo and Leonor Silva Valdivia. He married his wife, of 67 years, Lidia Mendez in Littlefield, Texas, on November 13, 1954.

Antonio was a caring, loving husband, father, and Pappy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. By trade, he was a farmer and rancher until he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taught them many valuable lessons. First and foremost, he wanted his children to get a good education so they could have a better and easier life. He taught them the value of hard work and to always keep their word no matter the cost. He often said a person was as good as their word. How to always pay their debts, help those in need, are traits he often exemplified throughout his life. Most importantly, he wanted his family to love each other. Antonio and Lidia were the pillars of the Valdivia family and he left behind a beautiful legacy to his family. Antonio will be truly missed, but his family will have many beautiful memories to cherish.

Antonio is survived by his wife, Lidia Valdivia, three daughters, Sally Aguirre and husband Tony Aguirre of Hale Center, Linda Gonzales and husband, Joe Gonzales of Abernathy, and Lidia Valdivia-Curry and husband Patrick Scott Curry of Lubbock. Three sons, Antonio Valdivia Jr. and wife Liz Moody of Woodrow, John Wayne Valdivia and wife, Norma Linda Valdivia of Dumas and Troy Valdivia of Hale Center. Along with 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Antonio is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa (Lisa) Madrigal and his grandson, Danny Lee Aguirre.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tony (TJ) Aguirre, Tony Valdivia III, Christopher Dominguez, Nicholas Gonzales, John Ross Valdivia, Luke Aguirre, Jeremy Gauna, and Matthew Valdivia.
