Alvino Joe Castillo, 70 of Plainview, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be at 12:00PM, Monday, December 20, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. A Rosary will be at 5:00PM, Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Alvino Joe “Bobalou” Castillo, 70 of Plainview, Texas passed from this life to his new life with his Savior Jesus Christ on December 14, 2021. He was born on December 17, 1950, in Leander, Texas to Mencho Castillo and Licha Montemayor. He attended Leander and Spur Public Schools in Texas. He met and married the love of his life of 50 years, Maria de Jesus Sierra on April 30, 1971. In 1980 they moved to Silverton, where he worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 14 years. He was a devoted Catholic Christian and Cursillista. He was a loyal Churchgoer and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview. He loved to pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially football. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His hobbies included dancing, spending time with his family, taking care of his grandchildren, cooking barbecues, and playing dominoes. He was always doing mechanic work. He was remembered by all for taking his family to church every Sunday and was seen always sitting in the front pew. Alvino had a heart of gold, and he was very compassionate to anyone he met. He never hesitated to help anybody in need.

Alvino is survived by his wife, Maria; three sisters: Amelia Castro of Lubbock, Mary Molina and husband Saragosa of Spur, Dominga Vasquez and husband Lupe of Slaton; four sons: Alvino Jose Castillo Jr. and wife Carmen of Kress, Daniel Castillo and wife Livier of Kansas, Santiago Castillo and wife Erika and Michael Castillo both of Lubbock; five daughters: Rena Taitano and husband Lambert of Arizona, Angelita Gamez and husband Romulo of Silverton, Cecilia Alcantara and husband Angel, Maria Jaime and husband Antonio and Pamela Barenas and husband Buenaventora all of Plainview; thirty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cruz Castillo; two sisters: Anastacia Castillo and Bebe Galindo; one infant daughter, Martha Castillo and one infant grandson, Steven Castillo.

The family requests that all memorials or contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
