Obituary

Maria de Rosario Sanchez, 75, of Hale Center, died Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in Plainview, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2021, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center, with Fr. Jeremy Trull officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 27, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Rosario was born August 4, 1946, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Miguel and Julia (Guerrero) Vera. A lifetime area resident, Rosario married Pedro Sanchez on February 13, 1962, in Mexico. They lived in Mayfield for many years before making their home in Hale Center. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and was a homemaker. She loved working outside with her flowers and her chickens. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was also important to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Sanchez in 2020, a son, Pedro Sanchez III, a granddaughter, Chelsea Rodriquez, and two brothers.

Survivors include her sons, Manuel Sanchez and his wife Velma of Plainview and Juan Sanchez and his wife Alice of Hale Center, eight daughters, Gracie Rodriquez and Ray Salas, Rosa Salas, Blanca Baca and husband Freddy, Maria Borrego, Maggie Sanchez, Beatrice Sanchez, Julie Castillo and husband Charlie, all of Hale Center, and Adriana Sanchez of Lubbock, and two sisters, Marcela Vera of Juarez and Maria Miramontes of El Paso. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
