J.G. was born September 26, 1934, in Hale Center, Texas, to Jay and Opal (Billington) Cannon. In September of 1962, J.G. married the love of his life, Nancy Rae, and they were married over 59 years. J.G. worked as a farmer, but to him, farming was not work. A member of the Hale Center Church of Christ, J.G. also served on the Hale Center Coop Gin board, the Hale Center Wheat Growers board, and the Hale Center ISD school board. J.G. was always busy, always friendly, had a keen sense of humor, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents, J.G. is survived by his wife, Nancy Rae Cannon of Hale Center, his son, Chris Cannon and his wife Kitten of Mayfield, his daughters, Melinda Cannon of Hale Center and Brenda Jackson of Waxahachie. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Blaine Summers, Megan Nelson and her husband James, Brooks Cannon, Jay W. Cannon, Avery Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, Jace Cannon and his wife Karissa, and Jet Cannon and two great-grandchildren: Carter and Lyla Nelson.

The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
