Obituary

Virginia Flores Rodriguez, 73, of Cotton Center, died Monday, September 20, 2021, in Deep River Township, Michigan. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center. Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Virginia was born January 31, 1948, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Marcellino and Hijnia (Rodriguez) Flores. She married Albino Rodriguez, Jr. on December 18, 1965, in San Antonio. Moving to Cotton Center in 1968, Virginia was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center. Virginia was a talented cook and baker. She served in the Cotton Center school cafeteria for many years and helped in the kitchen at the Hale Center Sr. Citizens Center. She also owned and operated Virgie's Cafe in Cotton Center for five years. Known around the area for her homemade tamales, Virginia also made banana nut bread and breakfast burritos for many in the community. Virginia enjoyed being outdoors working in her flowers and garden and canning. Her family was her world and she adored her grandchildren, who will all miss her very much.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albino Rodriguez, Jr., a daughter, Anna Marie, four brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Alvin Rodriguez III and his wife Annette April of Cotton Center, Matthew Rodriguez and his wife Christina of Omer, MI, and Mark Rodriguez and his wife Rebecca Lynee of Twentynine Palms, CA, two daughters, Jannina Johnson and husband John of Hubert, NC and Jeanette Pastrano and husband Ben of Lubbock, one brother, Mike Flores of San Antonio, and a sister, Mary Pena of San Antonio. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
