Obituary

Gaye King, 85, of Hale Center, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 5, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Rev. Gene Meacham officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors of Hale Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Gaye was born at home in Tipton, Oklahoma, on January 13, 1936, to O.H. and Pearl (Amos) Starcher. Gaye married the love of her life, Charles "Chock" King, on July 12, 1952, in Frederick, Oklahoma and they made their home on the farm near Halfway, Texas. Along with the normal duties of being a farmer's wife, Gaye was a paraprofessional at Thunderbird Elementary School in Plainview for over 20 years. A member of the First Baptist Church in Hale Center since 1966, Gaye was active in WMU and the GA's. She also served as church hostess and was an active volunteer for Mission Hale Center. Most important to Gaye was her family, her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved them dearly and she will be missed.

Gaye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles "Chock" King, in 2017, a son, Ricky Lee King, six brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include her son, Jackie King and wife Marilyn of Hale Center, two daughters, Resa Huffhines and husband James of Hale Center and Donna Orr and husband Mike of Kemah, TX, and two sisters, Mo Orr of Wilmington, S.C., and June Autry of Waxahachie, TX. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Jeshua King and wife Mendy, Jason Pryor and wife Patrice, Shiloh King and wife Magan, Karra Morton and husband Casey, Charissa Kellems and husband Casey, Jeremy Huffhines and wife Victoria, and Marci Morton and husband Andy and 14 great-grandchildren: Nathanael, Kale, Jack, Loren, Emma, Logan, Hollyn, Eli, Allie, Jaton, Jacob, Colt, Owen, and Maddie.
