Rogelio B. Cardenas, 80, of Hale Center, died Thursday, February 4, 2021, in Plainview. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021, at Hale Center Cemetery, with Brother Elias Garcia and Brother Terry Wright officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Rogelio was born on January 1, 1941, in Cotija, Michoacan, Mexico, to Juan and Maria (Barajas) Cardenas. A talented home builder in California for many years, Rogelio moved to Lubbock in 2009. He married Millie Sandoval on February 13, 2009, and was a member of Maranatua Church of the Living God in Lubbock. Together Rogelio and Millie moved to Hale Center in 2013 where he bought and remodeled their home with his own hands. Rogelio loved to sing mariachi and composed his own songs that were released on four different albums. He was a man of God and loved witnessing to people. He also enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, and was a talented carpenter.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Rogelio Cardenas Jr and Jorge Armando Cardenas and eight siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Cardenas of Hale Center, his son, Jose Maria Cardenas of San Jose, CA, a daughter, Jessica Orosco of Los Angeles, CA, and four sisters, Carmen Cardenas, Alicia Cardenas, Rebeka Cardenas, and Elvira Cardenas, all of Michoacan, Mexico.
