Obituary

Josefina M. Salazar, 92 of Plainview, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00AM, Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Bill Anton officiating. A Rosary will be at 6:00PM, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Josefina was born on May 15, 1929, in Harlingen, Texas to Lorenzo Morin and Eloisa Villa. She married Eusebio S. Salazar in 1952 in La Feria, Texas. Eusebio passed away on December 10, 2005. Josefina contracted pneumonia at a young age and was told by two doctors she would not live, the third doctor told her she would live a long life and she did. She also was not able to continue her education, she had to stay home to help her single mom raise her three siblings. At the age of forty-three, her husband became ill, and she became both mom and dad to her nine children.

Josefina enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidery and watching her novelas. She loved visiting her friends and neighbors. She would give communion to the sick and helped at the food bank and the Salvation Army. Josefina was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She is survived by six sons, Andres (Alma) Salazar, Tomas M. Salazar, Martin Salazar, Joe (Mireya) Salazar, and Edward (Sulema) Salazar all of Plainview and Benito (Carmen) Salazar of New Braunfels; three daughters, Maria (Richard) Pena of Plainview, Frances (Joe) Dale and Eloisa Barrera both of San Antonio; one brother, Erasmo Correa of Toledo, Ohio, twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eusebio S. Salazar, one brother, Paulo Correa, and one sister, Dominga Correa Aguinaga, one son-in-law, Jorge Barrera, one daughter-in-law, Ofilia Torrez Salazar, one infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Salazar.
