Obituary

Isidra "Sheila" Rodriguez, 68, of Cotton Center, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center, with Fr. Jacob Powell officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors of Hale Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2021, at Ramage Funeral Directors at 223 S. Main St. in Hale Center.

Isidra was born in Reynosa, Mexico, on May 15, 1952, to Jesus and Catalina (Zuniga) Leija. She married Felipe Rodriguez in December of 1974. Moving to Cotton Center in 1980, Sheila was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center and she worked in the school cafeteria for Cotton Center ISD. A very happy, upbeat, and loving person, Isidra was always smiling and making people laugh. She enjoyed dancing and was a movie buff. Watching soap operas, novellas, and working word search puzzles were also some of her favorite things to do. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Catalina Leija, her husband, Felipe Rodriguez, in 1995, a son, Eric Rodriguez, in 1982, two brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Edward Rodriguez and his wife Priscilla of Aubrey, Texas and Felipe Rodriguez, Jr. and his wife Nina of Lubbock, two daughters, Maggie Villarreal of Las Cruces and Miriam Rodriguez and her husband Chris Constancio of Lubbock, and three brothers, Jorge Leija of Edinburg, Rodrigo Leija of Mission, and Rodolfo Leija of Alton, Texas. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
