Obituary

David Rivera, 79 of Plainview, passed away on December 17, 2021, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, December 20, 2021, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

David Rivera was born in La Feria, Texas on January 13, 1942, to Daniel Rivera Sr., and Guadalupe (Vargas) Rivera. He married Felicita Alvarez in 1986, she passed away February 12, 2013. David loved attending church and reading the Word of God. He taught adult Sunday school and was a member of Iglesia de Nazareno. He enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley and Vicente Fernandez and enjoyed watching older TV shows like Gunsmoke, Andy Griffin, and Sanford & Sons.

David is survived by six sons: Diego Rodriquez of Lubbock, TX, Inocencio (Oralia) Rodriquez of Ft. Smith, AR, Vicente Rodriquez of North Wilkesboro, NC, Domingo (Ramona) Rodriquez, Steven (Michelle) Rivera, Jai Rivera all of Plainview, TX; seven daughters: Basilia Aleman of Phoenix, AZ, Felia (Martin) Mosqueda of El Paso, TX, Juanita Rodriquez (Alvino Tijerina) of Ogden, UT, Vicenta (Ray) Cortez and Rebecca (Cornelio) Marquez both of Olton, TX, Margaret Rodriquez of CA, and Sara (Jerome) Fletcher of Liberal, KS; five brothers: Joe Vargas and Ruben Rivera of Mesquite, TX, Daniel Rivera Jr., and Luis Rivera of Arlington, TX, Martin Rivera of Hurst, TX; one sister, Guadalupe Rivera of Mesquite, TX, sixty-three grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents: Daniel Rivera Sr., and Guadalupe Vargas Rivera; his wife, Felicita Alvarez Rivera; two daughters: Martina Martinez and Mary Whatley; one sister, Delia Chapa.
