Obituary

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Saturday, October 17, 2020, when Wanda Phillips McKinney passed through the pearly gates and into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was born to Matthew and Corine Phillips in Robinson, Texas, on December 17, 1943. Wanda attended school in Plainview and was an active member of Happy Union Baptist Church, where she met the love of her life, Braxton McKinney. They were married on June 15, 1962, at Happy Union Baptist Church. Wanda had the patience of Job and a servant’s heart. She was a loving mother and was very proud of her three children. Wanda was always ready to listen, not judge, and offer advice; being kind and positive were her two best traits. She would have given you her last bite or anything she had if it would have helped you. Wanda loved singing and playing the piano or organ at church; they were two of her greatest joys! She also loved to cook, crochet, read, watch old westerns, play cards, and camp in the mountains with her family. She was the ultimate Skip Bo champion!

Wanda is survived by her husband, Brac of 58 years; daughter, Ranae Isch and husband Scott of Amarillo,Texas; son, David McKinney and wife Gretchen of Lubbock, Texas; son, Carey McKinney and wife Shannan of Pampa,Texas; as well as granddaughter, Kayla Henry and husband Blake, grandson, Bobby Girndt, grandson, Craig Girndt and wife Ashleigh, grandson, Colton McKinney and wife Payton, granddaughters, Sydney Isch, Rachel McKinney, Claire McKinney and great-grandsons, Carsen Girndt, Cooper Girndt, and Tytan Henry. Wanda also has two surviving sisters, Shirley Schavey of Austin, Texas, and Diane Chisholm of Fort Worth, Texas, as well as an array of other loving family members.

Graveside services will be Monday, November 2, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Hale Center Cemetery, with Dr. Kris Knippa officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at the funeral home in Hale Center.
