Graveside services for San Juana "Janie" Aguirre will be celebrated on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11:00am in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Brian Wood officiating. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 1:30pm at Abell Funeral Home. Viewing will begin at the conclusion of the rosary until 6:00pm. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Janie died on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in Lubbock, TX.
She was born on August 11, 1952 to Daniel & Maria De Jesus (Ramos) Ramirez in Robstown, TX. The family moved to Abernathy where Janie was raised. She married Juan Jose "John Joe" Aguirre on September 14, 1968 in Abernathy, TX. Janie worked at the Cotton Mill in Abernathy for a time before working in the cafeteria for Abernathy ISD.
Janie is preceded in death by her husband, John Joe, on October 29, 2014.
She is survived by her son, SSGT John Joe Aguirre, Jr. of Gallatin, TN, 3 daughters Eva Cortez and husband, Michael of Abernathy, Diana Rosas and husband, Ben, of Lubbock, and Elza Aguirre of Abernathy, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 sisters Carmen Lopez and Angie Ramirez, both of Abernathy, and Melie Champion of Grand Island, NE, and 2 brothers Santos Ramirez, Sr. of Amarillo, TX and Joe Ramirez of Abernathy.
