Obituary

Henrietta “Kitty” Flores, 78, of Plainview, Texas, formerly of Galveston, Texas, entered heaven’s gates on June 27, 2022. A service will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Bartley Memorial Chapel. A visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Henrietta “Kitty” Flores came into this world on February 23, 1944, in Galveston County, Texas to John G. Champion and Annie Cruz. Kitty spent most of her young life in Galveston with her family and attended Galveston Community College. While going to college she met and married her husband Victor Vicente Flores Jr. Together they had four beautiful children: Victor, Robert, Deneen, and Tracy Flores. Some years later Victor and Kitty divorced, and she continued to care for the children as a single mother. When her children were grown, they decided to move to West Texas and brought her with them. For the years that followed she was a caregiver for many of her grandchildren going wherever she was needed. Kitty was a woman of many hobbies including sewing, reading, and playing video games. Kitty spent many nights with her grandchildren piled in her twin size bed to listen to her tell her twisted version of evil witches, Jack and the beanstalk, the three little pigs.

Later in life she became independent and enjoyed her own apartment, where she welcomed her family and friends to visit her, play bingo, or watch a movie or two. As time passed her health declined and she needed to move into Plainview Healthcare where she could get more hands-on care. While living there, Kitty enjoyed bingo nights and holiday celebrations with her many new friends. Kitty was not just a resident, the employees treated her as family with much love and respect.

On June 27th, 2022, Kitty went to join her family in Heaven.

Kitty is preceded in death by her mother and father, her siblings Penny, Robert, Reynaldo, and her beloved daughter, Tracy Flores.

She is survived by her brother; Johnny Champion of Breckenridge, TX, sons Victor Flores of Planview, TX and Robert Flores of Friona, TX and a daughter; Deneen Flores of Plainview, TX. Along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
