Obituary

Joyce Beals, 83, of Plainview, departed this earthly world and entered heaven’s gates on June 9, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 10 a.m.

Joyce was born on December 28, 1938, to Carlton and Clarice (Wilmoth) Faxon in Brockton, Massachusetts. She grew up in Holbrook Massachusetts where she graduated from Holbrook High in 1954. Joyce met the love of her life, Thomas Franklin Beals, while working as a housekeeper at Brockton Hospital. They were married on May 8, 1960, at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Brockton. The couple settled in Rockland, Massachusetts where she was a CNA and then became a teacher. They later moved to Whitman where Joyce retired after 20 years of teaching. After the passing of her husband, she then relocated to Plainview, Texas with her daughter.

Joyce was a humble and giving woman who always was lending a helping hand. She would do absolutely anything for others. She was strong in her faith and loved the hymn, Amazing Grace. Joyce attended Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening her plants and flowers, going on rides (the longer the better), going out for ice cream, and her lotto tickets. Joyce was very family oriented. She loved her family most of all.

Joyce will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Thomas Beals of Plainview, Maryann Black of Cedarville, Kansas, and Cynthia Mears and husband, Eric, grandchildren; Erica Mears, Troy Mears and wife, Lindsay, Timothy Paul Beals, Justin Daniel McNeil, Steven Michael McNeil, Brian Christopher Black, Melissa Ann Metz and husband, Steven, Brittany Nicole Black, and Sierra Leann Vernon, and two siblings. Joyce was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carlton and Clarice (Wilmoth) Faxon, and a grandson; Robert Edward McNeil.
