Obituary

Antonia B. Garcia, 86 of Plainview, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be at 2:00pm, Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. A Rosary will be at 6:00pm, Monday, January 17, 2022, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Antonia was born on June 13, 1935, to Celedonio and Manuelita (Gutierrez) Bruno. She married Reynaldo S. Garcia on June 4, 1952, in Harlingen, Texas. He passed away on March 13, 2015.

Antonia was a mother of 11 children 5 boys and 6 girls. She took so much pride in the food she made, so she decided to open Norteno's Restaurant (circa 1988/1992) so that everyone could experience her cooking. She was beloved by her friends in the community and was also known for her home remedies by many. She was an exceptional gardener and took pride in her rose bushes. She loved spending time with anyone that was ready to play the slots. Her best friend of 55yrs, Julie Gutierrez, was a witness to many of Antonia's moments in life and was there for her transition into God's kingdom. Antonia especially loved when her children, grandchildren, and friends would gather in her home for no reason at all other than to just spend time together.

Antonia is survived by two sons: Raul Garcia of Fort Worth, and Robert Garcia of Plainview; six daughters, Ida and Alfredo Mata of Lubbock, Hilda and Alex Ochoa of McAllen, Melva and Oscar Garcia of Plainview, Toni Garcia of Lubbock, Rachel and Jose Enriquez of Houston, and Shelly and Carlos Moreno of Lubbock; one brother, Francisco "Pancho" Bruno of Donna; and two sisters: Guadalupe and Armando Ramirez, and San Juana Bruno both of Houston; forty-one grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Reynaldo, Jr., Rolando, and Roy Garcia; one daughter, Delma Gonzalez; a sister Gregoria Ruiz; three brothers: Salvador (Chavalo) Bruno, Celedonia (Cuate) Bruno, and Santiago Bruno.
