George Castro Rodriguez was born in Sonora, Texas to Jose Rodriguez and Heriberta Castro on February 3, 1952, delivered by his maternal grandmother, Zapopa Castro. Growing up, George was always kindhearted and loved to play pretend and prank his family! He is known as “Choche,” a nickname given to him by his family.

One of the fondest memories was when the family rented a Bulldog Bus and ventured to a family reunion to Sonora, and San Antonio, Texas. He wanted all the family to attend!

George worked as D.J. in Plainview for many years. He played music at Pete’s Paladium, Club DJ’s, El Poso, VFW, Ruby’s Palace, and American Legion, to name a few. Wherever he played music, he made sure his audience was entertained. He loved to dance, and he was one of the best Tejano dancers in the area. After he retired from being a D.J. he worked as a bus driver for the Texas Migrant Council on a seasonal basis. He then went on to work for Plainview First Students as a bus driver in the Plainview Area. He loved his school bus #7 and his students. His students were always greeted by one of the greatest bus drivers in Plainview. He really enjoyed taking the students on field trips and sporting events out of town.

George loved watching sports, his favorite NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys, and his favorite college team was the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

George was a one of a kind Tio and he made sure no one was left out. He was a monarch to all, and he was no ordinary uncle, he was also a dad to many of his nieces. He would go above and beyond for his family and friends. Most of all, he loved family gatherings.

George is survived by his sisters: Floria Ramirez and Paula Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews and Godchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Heriberta Rodriguez; five brothers: Ramiro, Eulogio, Jose Jr., Bobby and Reynaldo Rodriguez; and four sisters: Maria Perez, Mary Ann Lopez, Enedelia Rodriguez and Elvia Sanchez.

He is a beloved brother, uncle and cousin and friend to many and will be missed.
