It's a sad day for the Tejano Music world. Longtime San Antonio radio personality Diana Castillo, known by listeners as "Lady Di" was remembered as "The first Lady of Tejano in San Antonio”.

Diana Castillo was born in San Antonio on December 16, 1954, but grew up in Plainview. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1973 and was captain of the PHS Drill Team. She attended college for Radio Broadcasting, which paved the way to a very successful career in the music industry. She worked in Plainview -KKYN, Lubbock-KTLK, El Paso, and San Antonio-KXTN for several years.

“Lady Di” was the image of a professional, an amazing mentor to many. She simplified the way for many other female broadcasters’ successes. She was a very extraordinary individual with amazing talent. She was instrumental in the rise of Selena and served as a reporter in the movie. She possessed a smooth sultry voice. There is a gold microphone in heaven for you…no doubt about it "CIAO CHITTY".

Diana Castillo gained her wings on June 22, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents Alejandro Castillo and Maria De La Luz Castillo and her siblings Joe Vallin, Juan Vallin, Bobby Vallin, Nina Farias, and Gloria Hernandez.

Diana is survived by Modesta Chavez (wife), Laura Hernandez (niece), Lisa Lambert (niece), Karen Acosta (niece) and several other nieces, and nephews. She’s also survived by many loving dear close friends of several years and her fan base.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, and heartaches make a lane, we’d walk our way to heaven, and bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.
