Carina Martinez Mendez, 47 of New Mexico, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday May 30, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas, leaving behind cherished memories and a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She was born on December 19, 1975, in Plainview, Texas, and her life was a testament to love, selflessness, and unwavering loyalty.
Carina's journey began in Hart, Texas, where she grew up and graduated from high school with great ambition and a heart full of dreams. She pursued higher education at West Texas University in Canyon, Texas, where she nurtured her thirst for knowledge and shaped her compassionate character.
Carina had a passion for the Dallas Cowboys that burned brightly within her. She found immense joy in watching her favorite team play and could always be found passionately debating with anyone who dared to challenge their greatness. Her unwavering loyalty to the Cowboys was just one example of the unwavering loyalty she had for the people she loved.
Above all, Carina's greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Their laughter and happiness filled her heart with immense joy, and she treasured every precious moment she shared with them. She was a devoted and selfless mother and grandmother, always putting their needs before her own. Carina's love and care knew no bounds, and her children and grandchildren were blessed to have her as the pillar of their lives.
Carina had a taste for adventure and loved the thrill of going off-roading. Whether it was exploring rugged terrains or seeking new experiences, she embraced every opportunity to challenge herself and bask in the beauty of nature. Her adventurous spirit was a reflection of her vibrant and fearless personality.

She has been reunited with her beloved son, Gordo Mendez; grandparents, TD and Catalina Martinez and Fortino and Bernabe Porras Castillo; and uncles, Mario, and Roy Martinez, in God’s eternal kingdom.
Carina will be deeply and lovingly missed by her parents, Carlos and Alicia Martinez; children, Abigail Samaniego, Audrey Samaniego, Cesar Samaniego, Christian Samaniego, Aulani Mendez, and Sabastion Mendez; husband, Raymond Mendez; brother, Sergio Martinez; sister, Melissa Martinez Lujan; grandchildren, Avyan Ramirez, Ayden Ramirez, Jael Samaniego, Alina Mendez, Luna Mendez, and Zahoya Mendez; and a host of extended family and friends.
Services for Mrs. Mendez will be held at Lemons Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Visitation will be held at 10:00am until 12:00pm with Funeral Service beginning at 12:00pm. Family arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
