Obituary

Janetta Mae Hancock, 87 of Amarillo, formerly of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Viewing for Mrs. Hancock will be on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 4:00pm-6:00pm and visitation with the family will begin at 6:00pm-8:00pm at Lemons Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Mrs. Hancock will be at Lemons Memorial Chapel, at 2:00pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, followed by Interment at Plainview Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Janetta Mae Hancock was born on October 8, 1935, in Hale Center, Texas to Archie Williams and Claudia Young Williams. She graduated Plainview High School in 1953 and began working as an Operator for Southwestern Bell Phone Company until she retired in 1996.

Janetta enjoyed antique shopping and yard work. She also loved flowers and her dogs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie, and Claudia Williams; one son, Mike Wardlow; three brothers: Fred, Terry, and Bill Williams; two sisters: Linda Williams and Marion Gonzalez.

Janetta is survived by her two sons: Alton Hancock of Glen Rose, Texas and Jerry Don Wardlow and his wife, Julie of North Richland Hills, Texas; one brother, Ronnie Williams of Plainview; one sister, Grace Lunsted of Riverside, CA.
