Obituary

Gregg David McCain joined his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2023 at the age of 60, surrounded by his loved ones, in Plainview, Texas.

Gregg was born on January 10, 1963. God gave him awesome parents, James and Margaret (Ford) McCain. He attended school in Ft. Worth, and graduated from Southwest High School, where he also played basketball. He attended Tarrant County College. He successfully completed 2 years of biblical ministry and leadership training at Plainview First Leadership College.

Gregg married the love of his life Patricia Couch, on December 21, 2009. They were married in the chapel at Covenant Hospital in Plainview, in order for Katherin Collins to attend, who was ill and a patient at the time. She was one of the sweetest people that they knew and said “if you could see Jesus in someone, you could see it in her.” They referred to her as Mama Collins.

Gregg was a member of First Assembly of God Church, where he loved to serve in various positions such as Deacon, Usher, Children’s Ministries, and Door Greeter. He faithfully attended Men’s Bible Study on Tuesday mornings, was a leader of a connect group and was a member of “The Classics”, which consists of members that are 50 years old and above.

Gregg worked at Walmart Distribution Center in Plainview. He and his wife owned Kingdom Properties Art, which consisted of handcrafted woodworks and gifts for the home, including scrollwork and artwork. He also owned Carpenter’s Sawmill, which included woodwork and carpentry. He remolded his and Patricia’s home.

Gregg was a big sports fan, especially of basketball and football. He really enjoyed working with pigs and kept an interest in them. He loved their two dogs which he called “our girls”.

He was a great loving parent to his children and grandchildren. He loved to minister and counsel others, speaking the Word and sharing about Jesus to everyone he could.

Gregg is survived his parents James and Margaret McCain of Fort Worth; his wife, Patricia (Couch) McCain, his children, David Gregg (and Krystle) Titus of Fort Worth, Crystal Dawn (and Stephen) White of Plainview, Shane Lee (and Bailey) Couch of Plainview, his siblings, John (and Susan) McCain of Plainview, Jennipher (and Eric) King of Weatherford, Cora (and Ilan) Bankston of San Antonio, Dennis Gibson of Paris, Texas, Sammie Gibson of Kentucky, Stephania Gibson of Kentucky, eight grandchildren, Jamyria, Jamyia, Keith, Kaelop, Robert J., Kendra, Hollie, Damien; six great-grandchildren; his Uncle Homer McCain who is 90 years old, several nieces and nephews, and Trina Palmer, who was just like a sister to him.

He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Weldon Dewayne Gibson, brothers, Dewayne Gibson, and Tim Gibson, and a sister Sabrina Gibson.

A Memorial Service will be held on February 24, 2023, at 2:00 pm at First Assembly of God in Planview, Texas.
