Obituary

Mauricio Mendoza, Sr., 29 of Plainview, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, in Iowa. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm, Friday, March 31, 2023, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 9am-1:30pm. Funeral Service, officiated by Father George Poonely, will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation services will follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Mauricio Mendoza, Sr. was born on March 23, 1993, in Dimmitt, Texas to Manuel Mendoza, Sr. and Micaela Gutierrez. He graduated from Hart High School in 2011, and then went on to attend Amarillo College. He received his CDL and began his career as a truck driver. He married Brenda Gonzales in Odessa, Texas on October 18, 2013, and together they had three sons: Mauricio, Jr., Misael, and Mathias.

Mauricio enjoyed his career as a truck driver. When he wasn’t driving, he spent time playing his PlayStation and spending time with his family, especially with his kids and his dogs.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Mendoza; his three sons. Mauricio, Jr., Misael and Mathias Mendoza all of Plainview; his parents: Manuel and Mickey Mendoza of Hart; his paternal grandmother, Ascencion Santana de Mendoza of Jalpilla, Guanajuato, Mexico; his two brothers: Manuel Mendoza, Jr. and wife, Maria of Hart, and Marical Mendoza, Sr. and wife, Laura of Amarillo; his two sisters: Mariza Mendoza of Andrews, and Mirella Vega and husband, Chuy of Olton; and his eighteen nieces and twenty-one nephews.
