Obituary

Dora Rodriguez Jimenez of Hale Center, Texas, departed this earthly life peacefully at home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren on Sunday, February 12, 2023. After her valiant fight with Cancer in 2021. Choosing life over cancer her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through until her final moments fighting the fight against cancer. Dora may have lost the battle against this earthly cancerous disease but ultimately claimed a victory with God by her side.

Dora was born in Lamesa, Texas on November 1, 1944. During her early years Dora and her 3 sisters were raised in Lamesa, Texas by their mother Evangelina Castillo Hipolito and their stepfather Felix Hipolito. Dora went on to marry her childhood sweetheart on June 27, 1959, and remained married for a total of sixty-three and ½ years.

Dora’s excitement for adventure kept her from unpacking her suitcase so she would be ready for the next adventure wherever her children swooped her away at a moment’s notice. There were many times that her suitcase didn’t make it into the car. Her travels included both domestic and international travel. Perhaps one of her favorite destinations was Jerusalem where she enjoyed walking in the footsteps of her Redeemer and visiting every site in The Holy Land. Besides traveling Dora’s, other hobbies were fishing, photography, gardening, flower arrangements, sewing, and crafting.

Dora treasured her family dearly. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and her relationship with her sisters was cherished. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague, and friend. She touched the lives of so many people. She will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.

Those left to cherish Dora’s memory are her husband, Joe T. Jimenez; Five (5) sons: Joe Jimenez JR. and spouse Shaila of Lubbock TX, Alfred Jimenez and spouse Sara Jimenez of Levelland, TX, Jesse Jimenez, Eliud Jimenez, both of North Richland Hills, TX and Gabriel Jimenez and spouse Yukeyra of Hale Center, TX; Eight (8) daughters: Betty Jimenez of Plainview, TX, Eva Vara and spouse Juan Vara of Hale Center, TX, Sandy Jimenez and spouse Valerie Bales of Farmington, Illinois, Liza Jimenez of Hale Center, TX, Nina Jimenez of Richmond, TX, Lydia R. Jimenez of Euless, TX, and Rhoda Jimenez of North Richland Hills, TX. Dora’s memory lives on with a long legacy of thirty (30) grandchildren, eighty-one (81) great grandchildren and one on the way, and six (7) great-great- grandchildren and one on the way, and her two sisters: Gloria Jimenez and Cindy Hipolito and let us not forget Dora’s sweet lovable puppy Bella.

Dora is preceded in death by her mother, Evangelina Castillo Hipolito, her stepfather, Felix Hipolito; sister, Josie Solis; two grandchildren: Kasandra Valdez and Monica Rubio; two great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Jimenez and Alexis Solis.

Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of her active life over the years. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and God’s faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Dora had a strong faith, and her prayer was always for her family to follow her faith.

As a woman of faith, Dora wished to have a celebration of the immortality promised to all by Christ. She would love to be remembered with funny, strange, or silly stories, songs of praise and worship celebrating what was good and blessed in her life.
